I couldn't change my travel plans so I had to pay out of pocket to stay elsewhere.
I called ALVS back and the next agent said those dates can't be rearranged. I called and was told only the travel agency could do that.
I extended my trip by 2 days and was told by the travel agent I could call the Fitzgerald Castle Hotel (ALVS books you into this hotel the last 2 nights of your stay but I extended by 2 nights) and move those nights. Again, not in Galway, Dingle etc, but outside, requiring further driving. The B&B's available through ALVS in Ireland were extremely limited. I would rather have paid a little extra to stay in the city/ location I wanted than to use these vouchers. The locations in Scotland required extra payments and were located well outside popular cities/ location areas. I totally regret booking my Scotland/ Ireland vacation through Aer Lingus Vacation Store. You cannot undo this unless you pay $50/seat (which is $10 more than the current rate if I were booking today). After booking I went back in to select my seat only to discover that the "best available" seat had been assigned to me by the window. Due to a medical condition I will not choose a flight unless I can sit in the aisle. I was tricked into buying the travel insurance even though I later learned that my fare class allows for cancellations already. If there had been an obvious disclaimer (or any disclaimer) that I was being redirected to a 3rd party I would not have made my reservation through Aer Lingus Vacation Store. It is very deceptive to advertise travel deals on the official Aer Lingus website only to have the trip booked through a travel agent that does not have the same abilities as the airline nor give you the same rights as a passenger. They are travel agents to several airlines. My main complaint is that this is a travel agent and not connected to Aer Lingus. Aer Lingus Vacation Store is NOT Aer Lingus.
